Therefore we have invited you gentlemen
But the
here to discuss it with you. The rumour arose because of the recent events at (Hankow), and of course our fellow- countrymen could not fail to have their misgivings. Nationalist Government has resolved that the events at (Hankow) should be settled by diplomatic negotiations, and we know the proper course for us to pursue and shall not resort to any rash or reckless measures. The recent investigation made in Hong Kong by our old officials is merely intended as a preparation for the re-establishing of our Hong Kong Union. We have now invited you, gentlemen, here, and have explained the position clearly to you. I hope you will do your utmost similarly to explain the position in the Press, so that no misunderstanding or panic may arise among our fellow-countrymen.

its opinions frequently.
The meeting broke up after everyone had been thoroughly
entertained.
